Treatment for HIV

In cases of primary infection of Human Immunodeficiency Virus, the patient is referred to clinical studies where a decision is made on whether there is a role for therapy or not. The best way to treat sexual transmission cases is to observe complete self restraint. This means abstinence from sexual activity between both partners until they are cleared of any HIV infection. Currently women are advised anti viral therapy on the fetus. However, the treatment should by and large remain similar to that in non pregnant women, except during the first trimester.
